Who Is a Candidate?

It’s common to feel like dental implants won’t work for you. After all, you may have gone years dealing with your missing teeth and felt hopeless as to where to find help.

The good news? All it takes is a simple, personalized consultation to determine if full mouth dental implants are right for you.

An ideal candidate for full dental implants is someone who has lost all (or most) of their teeth due to decay, periodontal disease, or traumatic injury. Some genetic conditions can also play a factor in unexpected tooth loss.

In a consultation, we’ll take a look at your health history as well as your current oral health to determine the best course of action. Through a comprehensive session, we’ll walk through the key factors that go into successful full dental implants:

  • Your Jawbone Health: Individuals require sufficient bone density to help support the implants (bone grafting can often help if needed).
  • Your Gum Health: To speed up the healing process and prevent any issues, your gums should be free of active periodontal disease.
  • Your Overall Health: Your dental implant success depends on other health factors, such as uncontrolled diabetes or autoimmune disorders, that can prevent the procedure from working.
  • Other Lifestyle Factors: Non-smokers have the highest success rates, but we’re happy to work out a plan with those who are committed to quitting!
  • Your Commitment: To make sure your dental implants work, you’ll need to maintain excellent oral hygiene and attend any scheduled check-ups.

Many think that age is a barrier. But it’s typically not a problem, and we’ve helped treat patients from their 30s to their 90s! So reach out today to learn more about the process and see if you qualify!

Benefits of Full Mouth Implants

Investing in a full mouth dental implant procedure offers you more than just a restored smile. You’ll find that dental implants bring you a host of other benefits that are well worth the effort!

You Can Finally Eat What You Love Again

Do you remember the feeling of biting into a crisp apple or enjoying a perfectly cooked steak? Instead of dealing with unruly dentures, you can enjoy the food you love and eat with confidence, knowing your implants are sturdy and protected from wear and tear.

Implants Help Preserve Your Facial Structure

When you lose your teeth, your jawbone’s structure begins to change. The bone may shrink and give your face a “sunken” look. Implants can help stimulate your jawbone just like a natural tooth, giving your face a fuller, younger look and feel.

You’ll Feel Secure and Confident In Your Smile

No more worrying about gaps in your smile or having your teeth slip during conversations or meals. Your full mouth dental implants will stay firmly in place thanks to their titanium post root, and you can smile, laugh, and enjoy your social life without feeling insecure.

Why Choose a Dental Implant Over a Bridge?

Rather than restore a smile with a dental implant procedure, some will opt for a bridge. While bridges can offer a more temporary solution to missing teeth, they can also bring some drawbacks.

Bridges require grinding down healthy teeth for support, which can end up altering their structure and feel. They also don’t prevent bone loss in your jaw, meaning your facial structure continues to change over time.

Your dental implants can stand independently without affecting any remaining natural teeth. Plus, they are a permanent solution, while bridges will often require replacing every 10-15 years.

Treatment Process Overview

It’s easy to think that a full mouth dental implant process will be overwhelming. But thanks to modern technology and expertise, the process has become far more straightforward than you might expect:

Step 1: Your Consultation

A full mouth dental implant procedure begins with a consultation at our Fort Collins office. We’ll use 3D imaging to evaluate your bone structure and create a customized treatment plan. This is a great time to ask your questions and learn what to expect at each step of the way.

Step 2: Implant Placement

If you are approved for the procedure, the next step is to have the titanium implants – the new “root” of your replacement teeth – surgically inserted into your jawbone. The procedure is performed under anesthesia with sedation options available for your comfort. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the process is!

Step 3: Healing & Integration

Once implanted, you’ll carefully monitor your mouth as the bone fuses with the implants. This “osseointegration” process usually takes anywhere from 3-6 months. In the meantime, we’ll help with oral care and provide you with temporary teeth so you’re never without a smile.

Step 4: Your New Smile

When healing is complete, it’s time to attach your custom prosthetic teeth! Thanks to our on-site lab, we can make real-time adjustments to ensure a perfect fit and aesthetics.

The result? A smile that looks, feels, and functions like the teeth you were born with
